“I’m thrilled to be the Creative Fellow this year at the Glassworks. I’ll be using these three months to work with the talented artists and assistants here, making and developing my own new work while sharing my passions for community and teaching. Some recent experiments are leading me down an an intriguing path of line work and pattern. I’ll be squeezing more time to share what I’m up to between hiking the hills, searching for kangaroos, carving and blowing glass.”

About Josie’s fellowship experience
“Three months ago, I set out to make a line that cuts through the walls of blown glass, like a ribbon that simultaneously binds and divides the material. I was looking to develop a contour mark that runs deep into the material while mending and bending, to connect and direct. The challenge held me focused along a journey of discovery, communicating deeply and silently with the material and process to slice into the light and reconnect with my practice as a maker.
So in Australia I made discoveries, I made objects, sculptures, and cups. I made progress. I made work! But the best things I made were friends. Friendships that run deep into my heart, bound and connected, that quietly supported me and my work and allowed me the space to walk the line and experiment, fail, question, discover and succeed. Thank you to this incredible new family of friends, you are pure magic. You are the map that helped me find my way home.”
