Canberra Glassworks endeavours to meet the needs of all our visitors, but due to the structure of the historic building, access to some parts of the facility may need some additional support.

Wheelchair and mobility devices

The entrances and ground floor Gallery and Shop are level and can accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices. There is a disabled toilet on the ground floor.

A lift provides access to the mezzanine public viewing platform and Hotshop. To see the glass blowers in the Hotshop, turn left when leaving the lift. To travel further on the circuit there are 5 steps down to the Engine Room floor.

If you want to continue the full self-guided circuit, you will need to retrace your path back to the main lift and continue around past the neon workshop to a set of glass doors. Through the doors there is a wheelchair platform lift (maximum weight 300kgs) available to assist those in wheelchairs to reach the Engine Room floor.

Before leaving the ground floor, please advise a staff member as they will need to assist you to negotiate the wheelchair platform lift.

Public Programs

It is essential when making an enquiry or a booking for a tour, class or workshop, that you let us know if you have any special needs so that we can make every effort to accommodate them. Please contact our Public Programs Team.

Children are very welcome however are the responsibility of their parent or guardian. We ask that they do not touch artworks in the Gallery or Shop.  All breakages must be paid for.

Accredited Assistance Animals are welcome at Canberra Glassworks but no other pets or animals. Please ensure your Assistance Animal is wearing their jacket during your visit.

Public toilets, including a disabled toilet, are located in the lift foyer on the ground floor.  Additional toilets are available for class and tour participants close to the working stations. We recommend that groups, including school groups use the ground floor toilets prior to their tour or workshop.

The Canberra Glassworks is a working facility. There will be noise from machinery and equipment used in the production of glass that may affect some people.
