NSW Parliament House External Lights

Heritage Reproductions

The NSW Parliament collections department contacted the Canberra Glassworks to restore 2 of their outdoor lights which were mounted outside of the Legislative Council Chamber originally in 1856. Over the years, the lights were accidentally spray-painted over, broken and replaced with Perspex and just generally looked like they needed a more authentic replacement.

With the expert guidance from master kilnformer Kirstie Rea, Canberra Glassworks matched  the original texture of the antique glass and bent a stainless-steel slumping mould to enable Kirstie to slump the glass to the form in the kiln before sending the reproduced lights Parliament House NSW or fitting and mounting to restore the lights to their former glory.
