Glassmaker Katie-Ann Houghton presents a thoughtful solo show that blends inspiration from mid-century Italy with her recent residency in Toyama, Japan.

Katie-Ann Houghton’s work represents a convergence of cultural influences, technical skill, and design sensibility, offering a fresh and unique interpretation of traditional and contemporary glass design.

This exhibition showcases a collection of high-end tableware that blends minimalist forms with functional design and surface pattern, drawing inspiration from both modern Japanese aesthetics and mid-century Italian glassmaking techniques. Central to this body of work is Houghton’s exploration of the incalmo technique, which she refined during her recent residency in Toyama, Japan, forming the foundation for this new collection.

Katie-Ann Houghton splits her time between her studio at Canberra Glassworks and Sydney College of the Arts.
