Gaia Bowl

Ngaio Fitzpatrick is an established artist and designer with a glass practice that specialises in kiln forming. With a background in environmentally sustainable architecture and building informing her practice, she is particularly interested in ways in which art can be used to draw attention to the human disconnection from Earth within the context of climate change. Named after the Greek goddess of Earth, Ngaios Gaia bowls are a glittering transformation from shattered glass to jewel-like statement pieces.

Alongside her artistic practice, Ngaio is an Honorary Lecturer with the ANU Institute of Climate, Energy and Disaster Solutions, Affiliate with the ANU History and Legacies of Environmental Violence cross-campus network and recipient of both a 2018 Australia Awards Endeavour Fellowship in Berlin and a 2016 Vice Chancellors College of the Arts Fellowship. Her interdisciplinary practice encompasses site specific installation, performance, video and recently, collaborative experimental music interactions in real time.
