Bushfire – Bowl

Based in Blackheath in the NSW Blue Mountains, New Zealand born Keith Rowe is an established glass artist specialising in glass blowing. With over 40 years of glass blowing experience, Keith Rowe makes works for private and public galleries, commissioned pieces for art consultants and corporate clients, as well as collaborations with artists and designers. Keith’s work is held in many private and public galleries in Australia and internationally. Over the years Keith has developed unique styles to his glass blowing, often working in a series/body of works.

His ideas are drawn from glass blowing traditions, such as the Venetian decorative techniques, his interest in the local environment and his interest in photography. Keith’s Bushfire series was inspired by the bushfires of 2019/20 that spread along the far ridge of the Grose Valley which are desired for their intricate details and warm tones. These free blown glass vessels are crafted with layers of glass chips and threads that build the narrative of the surface design which ensure that no two pieces are alike
