Canberra Glassworks is running a four-week Kilnforming Bootcamp with Kirstie Rea and Mel Douglas. Classes will run Monday evenings from 7 July to 28 July from 6 pm to 8 pm.

This workshop is designed for those wishing to develop their skills in kilnforming with a particular focus on kiln care, and the following:

  • Exploring the different kilns available at Canberra Glassworks
  • Kiln shelf handling (use, storage and care)
  • Controllers, programming and venting
  • Workplace health and safety
  • Moulds and refactories
  • Glasses and temperatures
  • Troubleshooting

The dates for the workshop are:

  • Mon 07 July 2025 | 6pm – 8pm
  • Mon 14 July 2025 | 6pm – 8pm
  • Mon 21 July 2025 | 6pm – 8pm
  • Mon 28 July 2025 | 6pm – 8pm

Submit an Expression of Interest

You are eligible to submit an EOI if you:

  • Have worked for Glassworks as a contractor in the past six months either for Production, Public Programs or as a mentor through the AiR Program.
  • Have up-to-date insurance.

The course is costed at $550 per person but will be subsidised by the Glassworks and cost each participant $200. This cost covers participation in each session for the Bootcamp as well as a $200 kiln pass (to be used within six months) to practice the skills learned in the workshop throughout the course.
