No matter how much time passes keep your memories and thoughts close with this unique limited-edition glass work of art.

Hand-crafted by acclaimed glass artist, Kirstie Rea for the Canberra Glassworks, ‘Field of Poppies’ is an exclusive series of individual glass artworks created to commemorate this year’s Remembrance Day.

The artwork, a unique and creative symbol of remembrance, was inspired by the artist’s early memories of families returning to visit cemeteries full of white marble tombstones, where their fathers and grandfathers bravely fought in the Great War at Gallipoli on the Western Front.

The artwork

Each piece is individually made from layers of clear and grey glass with small specks of red scattered throughout, symbolising the poppies. The wedged form of the artwork references the tombstones.

At the base there is a small section which can be hand engraved with a personalised message of remembrance — the name of a loved one or an important date.

About the artist

Kirstie Rea, the winner of the 2019 Klaus Moje Glass Award, is acclaimed for her ability to capture the Australian natural landscape in its purest and most simple form.

Kirstie was first approached by Canberra Glassworks to create an object of remembrance for the Centenary of ANZAC Day in 2018. She then began a personal and creative journey resulting in a unique collection titled “Field of Poppies”.
