For more than eleven years Canberra Glassworks has drawn artists to the region, slowly establishing a new community for the making of contemporary glass. A sense of belonging to place and yet being part of a larger conversation is one of the conditions for the creation of great art. The Glassworks was born of an aspiration to continually renew and extend the tradition of glass making by creating opportunities for artists who are committed to developing their skills and creativity.
The Glassworks has built a reputation for teaching technical skills, encouraging and enabling creative vision and supporting all who join our vibrant and welcoming community. As we believe the best way to learn is from experts, our Intensives are taught by highly skilled practising artists in small groups that, through exposure to the teachers’ opinions, motivations and working methods, allow participants to refine and develop new skills and techniques. And of course, there is time for discussion, rumination and building of networks.
