Gallery Shop Manager

Do you love working with beautiful hand- crafted objects?

Canberra Glassworks is looking for an experienced retail manager to oversee all elements of our beautiful Canberra Glassworks Gallery Shop and to welcome and guide visitors to our exhibition programs and public access areas of the building. This is a part-time position that supervises a small team, is responsible for stock control and sales and works closely with our Artistic Director to ensure we have a representative range of unique handmade glass objects in store.

Previous experience in a gallery shop or with high-end homewares will be preferred. You need to be a team player with demonstrated experience in a retail environment, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and an appreciation for quality and design.

POSITION DETAILS

Hours: Permanent part time 4 days per week Tuesday to Friday 9.00 – 5.30. May include occasional weekend or evening.
Salary: $33 per hr plus super.
Start date: 27 January, 2023. An earlier start can be negotiated.
Term: 12 months (with ongoing option) Probationary period is six months

Building Manager

Canberra Glassworks is a state-of-the-art workshop for the creation of studio glass located in the historic Powerhouse in Kingston, ACT. The property is an ACT Government owned Arts Facility managed by Canberra Glassworks Ltd. We are looking for a part time Building Manager to join our team to oversee the ongoing maintenance of the building and its facilities.

Working as part of the technical team this is a new position created to oversee the day-to-day maintenance of the building. This position would suit someone with experience in the building trades, working with contractors and trades people, managing a small team, good time management skills, and the ability to communicate and empathise with a diverse range of stakeholders.

Previous experience in managing an arts facility or an historic building is desirable.

POSITION DETAILS

Hours: Permanent part time 3 days per week Monday to Wednesday 8.00 – 4.30. May include emergency call out after hours.
Salary: $75,000pa pro rata plus superannuation
Start date: 6 February 2023.
Term: 12 months (with ongoing option) Probationary period is six months
