Blow the grey out of winter

Winter Glass, Canberra Glasswork’s signature event, is on again – Saturday 16 June from 4 to 10 pm. Building on the incredible momentum of the 2017 event this year has an exciting schedule of innovative programming, performances and installations including participation by the region’s top glass artists.

With its vibrant mix of music, wine, food and activities and spread across the Canberra Glassworks building, the Fitters Workshop and surrounds, the event presents working demonstrations, experiential events, live music, food, gin, wine and of course an abundance of glass for sale.

The varied program includes family friendly free or low cost activities such as bead making at the Viking furnace, a community artwork in the Project Space, flameworking, engraving and hot shop demonstrations through to slightly spicy wintery ‘AO’ rated events later in the evening. Watch the winning entry of the Kids’ Design Competition being made in the hot shop and have the opportunity to win the artwork created during the neon art demonstration.

Our production team have designed and handmade shot glasses to complement the Canberra Distillery specially created smoked and sloe berry Winter Gins and Bentspoke Beers. A selection of food vans including Fricken fried chicken, Le Petit Breton and Mr Papa will be on hand with DJ TEO-D to leave you feeling hot, hot hot!

“In addressing visitors’ feedback from the event formerly known as Winter Glass Market, we have further refined the program to ensure that all age groups from the very young to the older and more adventurous are catered for. Changing the footprint and reviewing what we deliver over the time frame of the event will ensure that that everyone has a fantastic experience,” said Julie Skate, CEO.
